Avi Tzur

Biobetter Ltd. is a start-up that pioneers novel protein expression platforms to address the fast-growing demand for complex recombinant proteins. The company is based in Israel and participates in the Israel Innovation Authority program and the Good Food Institute, which also helps support the company's financing. The new technology will alleviate one of the biggest bottlenecks in advancing cultured meat to mass production. The CEO, Amit Yaari, joined in 2016 and co-authored the core technology patents. The start-up is a winner of several awards and grants, including the joint GFI-EIT Cultivated Meat Innovation Challenge (Sept 2022) and the 2022 Foodtech Calcalist and Tnuva competition. The Israeli company was founded in 2015 by Dana Yarden, Oded Shoseyov, and Avi Tzur, with the aim of putting tobacco plant to positive use.
