BMW Group and Qualcomm Technologies have expanded their partnership to include in-vehicle digital operating systems.

The collaboration between the German car maker and U.S. semiconductor company goes beyond the existing agreement for driver assistance and automated driving tech, Qualcomm said Tuesday. The digitization push is focused on the interior experience and includes tech for voice commands, communications, "infotainment" and 5G connectivity.

One operating platform is already available in certain BMW models, while a more advanced platform, currently in development, is expected to roll out in 2025.

No financial details were released.
