Thiogenesis Therapeutics, Corp. is a Canada-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. Its lead compound, TTI-0102, is a disulfide, made up of two thiols that lead to two independent cysteamine molecules. Cysteamine is a thiol that has been rigorously studied and tested. TTI-0102 has been developed to address the obstacles facing previous thiol-based drugs, their short half-lives and side effects. As a prodrug, TTI-0102 is metabolized into cysteamine molecules after it is ingested. The metabolic process acts as a gating mechanism that eliminates the spike in the immediate release of cysteamine that is commonly linked to GI side effects. TTI-0102’s initial applications are for mitochondrial encephalopathy, lactic acidosis and stroke-like episodes, Leigh syndrome, Rett syndrome and pediatric Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
