Bouygues secures two major contracts in the Caribbean
Americaribe, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, has been selected to design and build two large-scale programs for the reconstruction and modernization of educational infrastructure on the islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The company will operate in a joint venture with the American firm Suffolk Construction. The cumulative value of the various construction phases for these two projects could reach up to 1.45 billion euros, with order intakes expected to be recognized progressively as work packages are validated and project milestones are reached.
This initiative is part of the "Rebuild USVI" government program, established following Hurricanes Irma and Maria, which struck the territories in 2017. It aims to rebuild and modernize ten schools and two administrative buildings to create resilient, modern educational environments tailored to the needs of local communities.
The programs incorporate stringent requirements for resilience against climatic and seismic risks. The buildings will be designed to withstand high winds and will include several hurricane shelters as well as safe rooms. They will also be equipped with photovoltaic installations providing three days of energy autonomy, covering 115% of the campus load.
