Dr. Ibbotson was formerly Chairman of Ibbotson Associates and Ibbotson Associates Advisors, LLC until both were acquired by Morningstar Inc. in March 2006.
Since then and until 2016, he served in an advisory role to Morningstar, Inc. Ibbotson Associates Advisors, LLC was a registered investment adviser and wholly owned subsidiary of Ibbotson Associates, a company founded by him in 1977 and a leading provider of asset allocation research and services.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Purdue University, his M.B.A. from Indiana University, and his Ph.D.
from the University of Chicago.
