Coinciding with the publication of its first-quarter trading update, Aegon announced on Thursday the appointment of a new CFO, effective September 1.

The Dutch insurer says that on that date, Duncan Russell will succeed Matt Rider, a 61-year-old executive who has held the position for more than seven years.

Duncan Russell, 45, has been Aegon's Chief Transformation Officer since 2020, having previously worked for British insurer Admiral, NN Group and J.P. Morgan.
