Vodafone announces that SatCo, its joint venture with AST SpaceMobile, will be based in Luxembourg. SatCo will exclusively distribute AST SpaceMobile's mobile satellite connectivity services to European operators.

The group is aiming for a commercial launch in 2026. SatCo has already attracted interest from operators in 21 EU member states. The structure will benefit from Luxembourg's strategic position and digital assets, while supporting European digital sovereignty objectives, it said.

SatCo will rely on low-orbit satellites to provide comprehensive coverage, even in the most remote areas.

This service will guarantee uninterrupted mobile connectivity for all European citizens, businesses, and governments, Vodafone added.

With SatCo now based in Luxembourg, Vodafone and AST SpaceMobile are strengthening Europe's position in direct satellite services and advancing digital independence, AST SpaceMobile said.
