Renault and a French defense SME are reportedly planning to set up production lines near the front lines in Ukraine. This initiative follows the recent announcement by France's Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu of an unprecedented partnership between a major French automaker and a defense SME to arm production lines for the manufacture of drones in Ukraine.
4.5 million drones
Lecornu stressed that these drones, while primarily intended for the Ukrainian military, will also benefit the French armed forces through ongoing tactical and operational training that reflects the realities of the conflict. Ukraine's ambitious goal is to use more than 4.5 million drones by 2025. These unmanned aerial vehicles would be responsible for 70 percent of the destruction of enemy equipment on the front lines.
France, which currently possesses only a few thousand drones, is trying to close the gap in this area. Lecornu acknowledged Ukraine's superior capabilities in drone design and tactical implementation, highlighting their valuable insights into real drone applications during wartime.
