MADRID (Reuters) - MasOrange, the Spanish unit of French telecom group Orange, has hired BNP Paribas to sell its stake in the fibre network it shares with Vodafone Spain, El Confidencial website reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed market sources.
MasOrange and Vodafone Spain, recently acquired by London-based Zegona, set up in July a joint company operating their fibre optic networks in the country.
MasOrange, which is 50% owned by Orange, now seeks to sell its stake in the joint company, El Confidencial said, adding that the stake is worth between 2.8 billion euros ($3.05 billion) and 4 billion euros.
Several infrastructure funds, including France's Antin and Australia's Macquarie are interested in the stake, El Confidencial said.
Masorange declined to comment. BNP Paribas did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Antin and Macquarie had no immediate comment.
