Nokia will assist Indonesian telecom provider Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison by enabling the automatic shutdown of radio equipment during periods of low network demand, according to a press release.
Through Nokia Energy Efficiency, part of Nokia's Autonomous Networks portfolio, artificial intelligence will be leveraged to analyze real-time traffic patterns. This will allow Indosat to automatically adjust or power down unused radio equipment during times of decreased network activity.
“The solution is available as a SaaS model, eliminating the need for significant upfront investment and removing the requirement for on-site software maintenance and updates, which contributes to greener network operations,” Nokia stated.
The solution is expected to be rolled out within a few weeks.
No financial details have been disclosed.
