Nestlé announces that its R&D division is collaborating with IBM Research to develop new tools that leverage artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation.
This partnership has resulted in the creation of a generative AI tool capable of identifying new high-barrier packaging materials.
These materials are designed to protect food and beverages, prevent food waste, and meet functional requirements while ensuring product safety and quality, Nestlé says.
Nestlé is thus continuing its strategy of reducing virgin plastic by exploring recyclable alternatives based on mono-materials and paper, and says that the model can now offer innovative materials capable of protecting sensitive products from moisture, temperature variations, and oxygen.
