Hermès has announced that it is laying the cornerstone for its 26th leather goods workshop in Charleville-Mézières. Scheduled to open in 2027, the workshop will eventually employ 250 artisans trained in the craft and in the manufacture of the company's bags.
It will also be the third site in the Hermès Maroquinerie-Sellerie Ardennes cluster, following the inauguration of the Bogny-sur-Meuse leather goods factory in 2004 and La Sormonne in 2023, thereby strengthening its presence in the Ardennes region.
The architectural project is also part of the redevelopment of the Deville industrial wasteland and has environmental ambitions with the renaturation of an industrial site located on the banks of the Meuse River, which is currently completely mineralized.
