Dassault Systèmes announced on Friday that Indian aircraft manufacturer Raphe mPhibr has adopted its 3D platform to develop its latest drone.

Traditionally spread over several years, the engine development time has been reduced to three months thanks to the features of the 3DExperience suite, explains the French enterprise software designer.

Raphe mPhibr, whose drones comprise between 20,000 and 30,000 components, has thus been able to create parts optimized for manufacturing and reduce the weight of its 4 kW two-stroke engine by 700 grams.

The company, which already has more than 500 employees and owns more than 100 intellectual property assets, recently raised $100 million in a financing round led by General Catalyst, the largest private fundraising ever by an aircraft manufacturer in India.

Driven by growing demand in the defense, homeland security, agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure surveillance sectors, the drone industry is experiencing rapid growth.

According to Dassault Systèmes, the global market for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is expected to reach 6.5 million units by 2030.
