The retail group Ceconomy has initiated a structured process to find a successor for outgoing CEO Karsten Wildberger, who is set to join the new federal government.

Effective immediately, Kai-Ulrich Deissner will step in as interim CEO, while Remko Rijnders will assume the role of interim CFO, Ceconomy announced on Thursday. Deissner has served as Chief Financial Officer of Ceconomy AG and MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group since February 2023. Rijnders has been the head of MediaMarkt BeNeLux since 2020.

According to the company, these interim appointments ensure continuity and clear responsibilities in corporate management until a long-term successor is established. Wildberger is transitioning to the federal government as Minister for Digitalization and State Modernization.
