The US Needs Boeing To Be Strong and Healthy, Says Air Lease CEO

Boeing (BA) had been getting its act together until the crash of an Air India flight last week raised fresh questions about the planemaker, says Air Lease (AL) CEO John Plueger. Plueger says clarity should come soon from the investigation into the crash. He says the US needs a strong, healthy Boeing to develop its new planes.

Company Profile

The Boeing Company is the worldwide leader in aeronautical construction. Net sales (including intragroup) break down by market as follows: - defense, space and security (35.8%): military aircraft and mobility systems (warplanes, helicopters, and air defense missiles), support services (logistics, engineering, maintenance and training services) and space equipment (satellites, launch pads, etc.); - commercial aviation (34.3%). In addition to commercial aircraft, the group supplies spare parts and offers technical support, maintenance and engineering services. The remaining sales (29.9%) are from services (logistics and supply management, engineering, maintenance, modification and training services, etc.), and commercial and private aircraft financing as well as aircraft equipment leasing activities. Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: the United States (54%), Asia (17.9%), Europe (13%), Middle East (6.9%), Oceania (2.3%), Canada (2.2%), Africa (1.7%) and other (2%).
