Boeing announced today that it has received a $135 million order from the U.S. Army for three additional CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters.

The order is part of the U.S. Army's ongoing modernization efforts.

To date, Boeing has nine Chinooks under contract with the U.S. Army, out of a total that could reach 465 in the Army's current fleet.

Boeing says the CH-47F Block II, combined with improved durability and the possibility of affordable future upgrades, will enable the Army to achieve its goal of flying for 'at least another 40 years'.
