Stocks in Toronto continued their upward trend, gaining slightly more ground in midday trading Wednesday, with most sectors pushing the indexes higher.
Tech, commercial services and energy stocks were the main gainers of the session, offsetting only a few decliners, mainly in the materials and producer manufacturing sectors.
At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index rose by 0.3% to 22675.13 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 edged 0.2% higher to 1358.95.
CAE shares were 4.2% higher at 23.95 Canadian dollars ($17.47) after the company reported better-than-expected results from its civil and defence segments and a strong order intake in the first quarter.
Other market movers:
AutoCanada shares fell 13% to C$15.73 after the automobile dealership group reported lower new and used car sales in the second quarter and said it was hit by another cybersecurity incident, the second in two months.
Metro reported a lower profit in the third fiscal quarter as higher costs and impairments offset better-than-expected sales. Shares were down 0.2% at C$81.22.
