Ahold Delhaize: new CEO Europe & Indonesia in October

Ahold Delhaize announces the appointment of Claude Sarrailh as CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia and member of the Management Board. He will join the Group on September 1 and take up his new position on October 1, following shareholder approval.

Claude Sarrailh, a French national, has been Chief Customer and Merchandise Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Metro, the German retail group he joined in 2006 after a decade with Carrefour, since 2022.

Based in the Netherlands, he will take over as CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia from Wouter Kolk, who had held the position since 2018 and announced at the end of March his decision to leave the Belgian-Dutch food retailer by the end of the year.

The group is also active in sale and home or workplace delivery of groceries through the Website Peapod.com; - retail distribution in Europe (36.5%): operated 5,668 stores under the names Albert Heijn (1,268 in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany), Mega Image (977 in Romania), Delhaize (818 in Belgium and Luxembourg), Gall & Gall (628 in the Netherlands), AB and Ena Food (585 in Greece), Etos (523 in the Netherlands), Delhaize Serbia (529 in Serbia) and Albert (340 in the Czech Republic).
