MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - Weak demand continued to weigh on Volkswagen's commercial vehicle holding, Traton, at the end of 2025. Sales in the fourth quarter fell worldwide by 8.8 percent year-on-year to 81,000 vehicles, as parent company Volkswagen announced Tuesday in Wolfsburg. For the full year, this amounts to a similarly steep decline of 8.6 percent to around 305,600 vehicles. Most recently, management at the Munich-based commercial vehicle subsidiary had forecast a sales drop of up to 10 percent. The sector is currently under pressure primarily due to the struggling US market, a consequence of import tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, while economic weakness in Europe is also still having an impact./men/mis
