The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has decided to uphold its requirements for NOx reductions in heavy trucks for the 2027 model year, despite requests from the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and other groups to postpone the measures until 2031.
Ålandsbanken commented that this decision could lead to a price increase of $15,000-$20,000 per truck. As a result, the bank expects a short-term spike in demand for 2026 model-year trucks. Ålandsbanken notes that industry players have not factored this into their market forecasts, which the bank believes will prompt an upward revision of market volume projections for 2026 by 5-10 percent.
"Short-term positive for Volvo, Traton, and Daimler Trucks," the bank writes.
