The Verdi trade union is calling for a six percent pay increase for more than 20,000 Lufthansa ground employees in the upcoming collective bargaining round.
Salaries must be raised by at least 250 euros per month, lead negotiator Marvin Reschinsky stated on Monday in Frankfurt. According to the union's demands, apprenticeship compensation should rise by 175 euros, and Lufthansa should cover the cost of the Deutschlandticket for employees. The service union represents ground staff across approximately 25 Lufthansa Airlines, Technik, and Cargo operations.
During the last round of negotiations, an agreement was reached only through arbitration. Several strike days led to massive flight cancellations at the start of 2024, frustrating many customers and resulting in significant costs for Lufthansa.
