United States Steel Corporation announced the appointment of three Independent U.S. Directors to U. S. Steel?s Board of Directors (the ?U. S. Steel Board?). The Independent U.S. Directors who joined the U. S. Steel Board are: John M. Donovan, brings substantial experience leading a large multinational company with deep expertise in technology and innovation. Mr. Donovan served as Chief Executive Officer of AT&T Communications, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T Inc., where he oversaw the company?s communications division from August 2017 until his retirement in October 2019.

Mr. Donovan has served on the Board of Directors of Palo Alto Networks Inc. since 2012, the Board of Directors of Lockheed Martin Corporation since 2021 and was a member of the President?s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee from 2019 to 2023. Robert J. Stevens, brings extensive executive leadership experience and a deep understanding of the complexities of operating a global business, strategic planning and regulatory matters. Mr. Stevens previously served as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation, from 2005 to 2012 and served as Executive Chairman in 2013.

Mr. Stevens serves on the advisory Board of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He has been an Independent Director of T. Rowe Price Group since 2019. From 2002 to 2018, he was the lead Independent Director of Monsanto Corporation.

Admiral Timothy J. Keating, USN (Ret.), brings proven leadership, extensive experience engaging with global partners and sophisticated national security knowledge. Admiral Keating currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Keating Global, LLC, a veteran-owned security consulting firm that provides expertise in security and crisis response capabilities. Admiral Keating retired in December 2009 following his tenure as the Commander of the United States Pacific Command, where he was responsible for overseeing a vast region encompassing over 3.4 billion individuals.

Admiral Keating?s distinguished career includes previous roles as the Commander of the United States Northern Command and the North American Aerospace Defense Command. The Independent U.S. Directors join the four existing directors: David B. Burritt is the President and Chief Executive Officer of U. S. Steel, where he has served as CEO since May 2017. Mr. Burritt serves on the Board of Directors for Lockheed Martin, the National Safety Council and serves on the Executive Committee of worldsteel.

He is also a member of The Business Council and a member of the G100. Takahiro Moriis the Representative Director, Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President at Nippon Steel Corporation, where he oversees Global Business Development as well as Accounting & Finance and serves as the Head of the USS Project and India Project, as well as a Board member of AM/NS India. Mr. Mori joined Nippon Steel in 1983 and has over 40 years of experience in various leadership roles across the organization and has been involved in corporate planning, marketing and human resources.

Mr. Mori is the Chairman of the U. S. Steel Board. Naoki Sato is the Representative Director and Executive Vice President (CTO) of Nippon Steel Corporation and also serves as the Vice Head of the USS Project, India Project and Thai Steel Project. Mr. Sato joined Nippon Steel in 1983 as an electrical engineer and has contributed to the development of advanced steel technologies and technical cooperation for steel plants outside Japan.

Mr. Sato has held key leadership roles at major steelworks in Japan, including serving as Executive Vice President as Head of East Nippon Works. Hiroshi Ono is the Managing Executive Officer at Nippon Steel Corporation, where he is responsible for managing Global Business Development in the Americas and leads the Usiminas Project of Nippon Steel. Since 2020, he has also served as President and CEO of Nippon Steel North America.

Mr. Ono joined Nippon Steel in 1989, serving in a series of management roles in the Business Development and Automotive Flat Products divisions. Prior to his current role, Mr. Ono served as the Head of Global Business Support Center in the Global Business Development Sector.
