UniCredit has dismissed concerns expressed by Commerzbank regarding the progress of its exchange offer as 'purely speculative' and already known.
Sources close to the bank emphasized that 'shares tendered in the offer are shares tendered, and the facts remain as stated yesterday'.
Earlier today, the German lender raised fresh doubts about the bid, pointing to 'persistently unusual behavior' in the tendering process and criticizing the level of transparency in the information provided by UniCredit, which it claims fails to demonstrate independent shareholder support.
UniCredit announced yesterday that acceptances for the offer had reached 10.9%.
