The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 5 basis points to 3.093% from 3.043%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 4 basis points to 4.531% from 4.489%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were down as Japan's Nikkei 225 index dropped 2%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 1.5%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 1%.
