The weakest performance is seen in healthcare, down 1.24 percent, while chemicals recorded the second-weakest showing, down 1.19 percent.
Among the earnings reports, Telenor's adjusted EBITDA came in lower than expected at NOK 8,046 million. The company is revising down its organic EBITDA growth forecast for 2026. The stock fell 7 percent.
Oil giant BP's underlying replacement cost profit, the company's primary earnings metric, was USD 3.20 billion in the first quarter (1.38). The result exceeded the company-compiled consensus of 2.67 billion. The stock was up 3.2 percent.
Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis reported an adjusted operating profit of USD 4.9 billion, 5.4 percent lower than the expected 5.18 billion. The stock fell 2.5 percent.
British banking major Barclays reported net interest income of GBP 3,737 million, significantly higher than the expected GBP 3,412 million. The bank reiterated its return targets for both 2026 and 2028, and announced new share buybacks of GBP 500 million. Barclays retreated 0.2 percent.
Airline Norwegian climbed 6.3 percent on its report. The operating loss came in significantly lower than expected at NOK -220 million. Passenger numbers increased to 5.17 million.
Finnish engineering giant Valmet's adjusted EBITA was 8.8 percent lower than expected at EUR 114 million. Revenue, however, was higher than anticipated. The stock was down 7.5 percent.
Regarding today's analyst notes, HSBC has upgraded Siemens to buy (hold) with a price target of EUR 300 (240). The stock is down 1.3 percent.
OP Corporate Bank raises Marimekko to buy (accumulate) with a price target of EUR 13. The stock is up 1.4 percent.
Kepler Cheuvreux upgrades Vår Energi to hold (reduce) with a price target of NOK 49 (26). The stock increased 2.5 percent.
