FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - The expansion of nationwide warning strikes in the collective bargaining dispute at Deutsche Telekom has reached the state of Hesse. The Verdi trade union has called for walkouts this Tuesday. According to reports, a central rally will be held in Frankfurt, where 700 strikers from Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland are also expected to attend. A demonstration march through the city center is also planned.
Several divisions of the Telekom Group are reportedly affected by the warning strikes. Due to the industrial action, there may be reduced accessibility, delays in technical customer service, setbacks in fiber-optic expansion, and cancellations of customer appointments. Emergency services have been ensured.
Verdi is demanding, among other things, a 6.6 percent salary increase over a twelve-month term, as well as an annual Verdi member bonus of 660 euros. The fourth round of negotiations is scheduled to take place next week (May 26/27, 2026)./agy/DP/he
