Stellantis has no intention of closing any manufacturing plants in Italy, as every site in the country will play a specific role in the automaker's industrial strategy.

Emanuele Cappellano, Chief Operating Officer for Europe, conveyed this message to labor unions during a meeting in Rome. The session was held to present details of the new industrial plan launched by the automaker last month, ahead of CEO Antonio Filosa's scheduled testimony before Parliament on Wednesday.

o Italy holds a key role in the new Stellantis industrial plan, Cappellano stated, according to a spokesperson.

o He noted that the group is seeing encouraging signals in Italy regarding increased demand, market share, and production levels, alongside a reduction in the use of social safety nets at several plants.

o The Pomigliano plant will focus on affordable electric vehicles, while Mirafiori will concentrate on industrial innovation and small cars. Melfi, Cassino, and Modena will support the premium and luxury vehicle segments.

o Atessa is confirmed as a primary hub for light commercial vehicles.

o Cappellano said the current plans for Italy represent a natural and more ambitious evolution of the previous national strategy presented to the government at the end of 2024, prior to Filosa assuming the role of CEO.

o The commitments outlined in the 2024 Stellantis plan for Italy have been met and, in many instances, exceeded under the framework of the new industrial plan, Cappellano told the unions.
