SJVN Limited has achieved a significant milestone with its 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project by successfully generating 1 Billion Units (BU) of energy on March 20, 2026. The project is located in Bikaner district of Rajasthan and is being implemented through its wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL). It has been developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme Phase II, Tranche III of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.
The foundation stone of the project was laid by the Hon'ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on January 3, 2023, at Jaipur. The project achieved its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on December 24, 2025, reinforcing SJVN's commitment to enhancing the nation's renewable energy capacity. The project is expected to generate approximately 2,454.55 million units (MU) of electricity in its first year and about 56 billion units cumulatively over 25 years.
Over its operational life, it is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2.78 million tonnes, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability. The tariff for the project has been competitively fixed at 2.57 per unit, ensuring affordable green power. The generated electricity will be supplied to the states of Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.
