Semiconductor firm Sivers Semiconductors has entered into a strategic collaboration with contract manufacturer Jabil to develop an energy-efficient optical transceiver module tailored for AI data centers. The solution is designed to deliver 1.6T speeds while reducing power consumption by up to 2.5 times.

The module leverages Sivers' proprietary laser technology and targets next-generation hyperscale data centers. This partnership comes amid a rapidly expanding market for high-capacity optics.

"Energy efficiency is now an absolute requirement for scaling AI infrastructure," said Alex McCann, Business Area Manager for Sivers Photonics.

"Jabil is an industry leader and a world-class partner, and we are excited to supply our high-performance lasers for their ultra-low power 1.6T LRO optical transceivers for AI data centers."
