Shimadzu Corporation and Sumitomo Precision Products Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Amagasaki, Hyogo, Representative Director, President: Tetsuya Tsurumaru) entered into a business alliance for the development, manufacture, and sale of hydraulic equipment. Shimadzu manufactures hydraulic equipment (external gear pumps) mainly for forklifts, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, and commercial vehicle, while Sumitomo Precision Products manufactures hydraulic equipment (internal gear pumps) for injection molding machines, die casting machines, forging machines, and machine tools. There is little overlap in product types, customers, and sales regions between the two companies, and the alliance is expected to produce synergies. Going forward, Shimadzu and Sumitomo Precision Products will pursue multifaceted collaboration that encompasses production cooperation for certain hydraulic equipment parts / cross-selling of products / the development of sales channels in China, where both companies have a base, and in developing countries such as India / the launch of jointly developed hydraulic equipment in fiscal 2027.
Gear pumps are critical components in hydraulic systems that generate pressure. They are called gear pumps because inner gear parts deliver hydraulic fluid to increase pressure. Such pumps are used in a wide range of equipment due to their stable pressure boosting performance and simple structure. In 2021, Shimadzu launched the Serenade series of gear pumps featuring a quiet design for electrified forklifts, which are used by major European manufacturers. The jointly developed products above include next-generation Serenade models for machine tools and injection molding machines.

About Sumitomo Precision Products
Established in 1961, Sumitomo Precision Products is a developer and manufacturer of aircraft landing gear systems and thermal control systems. Utilizing its precision aircraft hydraulic equipment technology, the company manufactures hydraulic equipment (internal gear pumps) for injection molding machines, die casting machines, forging machines, and machine tools. The QS and QT series of hydraulic pumps are also supplied to China's Ningbo Haitian Group Co., Ltd., the world's largest seller of injection molding machines.
