Several companies have shown interest in the Romanian assets of PJSC LUKOIL (MISX:LKOH), which has fallen under U.S. sanctions, the Romanian Energy Ministry said. "There are companies interested in the gas station network, others in the Petrotel refinery. It is obvious that a final solution to this commercial offer will be found," the Romanian agency Agerpres quoted Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan as saying on Friday."Most likely, the final version of the conclusions will be presented to the government next week," he said.
The companies that have expressed interest in acquiring Lukoil's assets are based in Romania, Hungary, Greece and the U.S., Ivan said. The Romanian authorities are working on establishing how international sanctions against Lukoil can be incorporated into national legislation so that their possible negative impact on work with partners is minimal, he said. "Today we held a second round of technical discussions with representatives of the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), aimed at clarifying the details of this regulation in order to minimize the negative effect for all suppliers and commercial partners of the companies that have fallen under sanctions," Agerpres quoted Ivan as saying.
