The software giant SAP is reorganizing responsibilities within its executive board. Cloud chief Thomas Saueressig will take on additional duties, the company announced on Monday. According to reports from "Handelsblatt" and the Bloomberg news agency, Saueressig will assume responsibility for sales, a role previously held by CEO Christian Klein. Saueressig has been a member of SAP's executive board since 2019 and leads the "Customer Services & Delivery" division, which encompasses the company's cloud business.

Bloomberg further reported, citing an internal memo, that Klein plans to focus more intensively on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) in the future. Providers of enterprise software are facing global pressure, with investors fearing that AI models could render these programs obsolete. In recent weeks, announcements of new features for Anthropic's AI "Claude" have repeatedly triggered volatility on the stock markets. Compared to its record high in February 2025, SAP's share price has lost about 40 percent of its value.

SAP also announced on Monday that Chief Product Officer Muhammad Alam will not be renewing his contract for personal reasons. He will remain with the company until the end of his term in 2027. Alam has been a member of SAP's executive board since 2024.
