Mining group Boliden has resumed operations at its Lycksele mine following a collapse on Sunday, reports Dagens industri.
The incident occurred 1,000 meters underground during loading operations. Mine personnel and eleven emergency service units, equipped with specialized mining gear, participated in the rescue effort.
One individual trapped during the collapse was successfully rescued.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. Speaking to Di, Communications Director Klas Nilsson stated that the production downtime is not expected to result in any significant loss of output.
Boliden AB is Europe's No. 3 zinc and copper producer. The group is also active in metal casting, refining, and recycling. Boliden AB also produces gold, silver and lead. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- metal production and processing (93.4%);
- metal extraction (6.6%): primarily zinc and copper.
