Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang's compensation in the latest fiscal year was $36.3 million, a 27% decline from the year before.

Huang's lower pay was due to smaller stock awards during last year, according to a filing Tuesday from the chipmaker. Huang made $24.8 million in stock awards, down from $38.8 million the year before.

Nvidia's stock rose roughly 2% across its last fiscal year, while it jumped 60% the previous fiscal year. Huang owns 3.6% of Nvidia's shares, per the filing.

Huang's salary was increased by more than $11,000, while his non-equity incentive plan was flat year-over-year. His pay from miscellaneous sources increased by just under $500,000.

Nvidia's four other top executives also saw their pay decrease due to lower stock awards. Their total pay ranged from $14.3 million to $14.8 million.

Nvidia said its average employee made $282,050 in the last fiscal year.
