Jingjiang Yongjin Metal Technology, a Chinese stainless steel producer, has awarded the final acceptance certificate (FAC) to Primetals Technologies for the successful supply and installation of a comprehensive Level 1 and Level 2 automation system at its 20-high reversing cold mill No. 3 in Jingjiang City, Jiangsu Province. The solution has delivered outstanding system availability and performance, as well as reliable access to spare parts.
The project included Level 1 and Level 2 automation systems, a drives system featuring the HD33 medium-voltage drive, excitation, drive-PLC control, and automation control instruments.
Medium-Voltage Drives Solution
The new medium-voltage drives, supplied in partnership with Inovance, deliver high mill performance and production reliability. Their modular design reduced investment costs, while the standardized and adaptable solution minimized installation and commissioning time, enabling a rapid ramp-up to full production.
This project marks the first collaboration between Primetals Technologies and Inovance, a leading provider of industrial automation. The partnership combines Inovance's expertise in drive technology with Primetals Technologies' process know-how to deliver medium-voltage drives with precise speed control, ensuring stable acceleration, deceleration, and tension control. This results in tight thickness and flatness tolerances and superior surface finishes.
Looking ahead, Inovance and Primetals Technologies plan to deepen their collaboration and explore broader cooperation, including projects for other mill types.
