METRO Inc. expressed disappointment over the decision of unionized employees at its Produce distribution centre in Laval, as well as those in transportation and the head office, to go on strike. Caroline Larocque, Vice President of Logistics and Distribution for Québec, stated that the company has been negotiating with the union for several months to reach an agreement that satisfies both employees and customers in a competitive market. In response to the strike, METRO has activated its contingency plan to ensure a normal supply of products to its stores.

The company remains committed to reaching a negotiated agreement as soon as possible while implementing measures to meet customer needs during the strike.
