JAKARTA, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Thomas Djiwandono, a nephew of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, was sworn in as deputy governor of the central bank on Monday after being appointed by parliament to the position last month.
His nomination had sparked investor concerns about Bank Indonesia's independence, driving the rupiah to a record low of 16,985 per dollar in mid-January. The currency later recovered after BI kept interest rates unchanged in an effort to shore it up.
