FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - Shares in Hochtief are set to join the DAX, as widely anticipated by market analysts. The construction group will replace the Volkswagen holding company Porsche SE, which will be relegated to the MDAX, Deutsche Börse subsidiary ISS Stoxx announced late Wednesday evening.
The mid-cap index will also welcome shares of chipmaker Elmos Semiconductor, chip industry supplier Siltronic, and semiconductor equipment provider Suss Microtec. To make room, alongside the promoted Hochtief, shares of online pharmacy Redcare Pharmacy, advertising marketer Ströer, and forklift manufacturer Jungheinrich will be removed. These stocks will instead be listed in the SDAX.
Furthermore, LPKF, Vincorion, Basler, and Asta Energy Solutions are joining the small-cap index. Leaving the SDAX, in addition to those promoted to the MDAX, are Adesso, Borussia Dortmund, Verve, and ProSiebenSat.1.
ISS Stoxx, a subsidiary of Deutsche Börse, reviews the DAX family indices (DAX, MDAX, SDAX, and TecDAX) on a quarterly basis. Any changes will take effect on Monday, June 22.
Index adjustments are particularly significant for funds that physically replicate indices. These funds must rebalance and reweight their holdings accordingly, which can exert pressure on share prices.//he
