Hermès announced on Tuesday the appointment of Grace Wales Bonner as the new Artistic Director of its Menswear line.

She will succeed Véronique Nichanian, whose departure was announced just a few days ago.

Grace Wales Bonner, 35, who will unveil her first collection for the brand in January 2027, is part of a new generation taking the creative helm at some of fashion's biggest names, including Chanel, Dior (owned by LVMH), and Gucci (owned by Kering).

Amid a crisis that has persisted for two years, the sector has undergone a series of shake-ups within its creative leadership, with a record number of designers making their debuts during the last season.

Until now, Hermès had been an exception in this regard, maintaining its creative team over decades with artistic directors such as Véronique Nichanian, 71, and jewelry and shoe designer Pierre Hardy, 69.

Grace Wales Bonner, whose name has circulated in recent months in speculation about top positions in fashion, is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and has won several awards for menswear design.
