Health-care companies rose as obesity-drug makers recovered their momentum in the wake of Eli Lilly's surprisingly strong earnings report earlier this week. Shares of both Lilly and Danish rival Novo Nordisk rose by more than 3%.
Moderna reported an increase in revenue during the first quarter, citing higher Covid-19 vaccine sales in international markets.
