HCA Healthcare agreed to acquire The College of Health Care Professions.
The healthcare providers said the acquisition of CHCP, which provides healthcare training virtually and in Texas to more than 8,000 students a year, would build on its record of acquiring or funding healthcare-education initiatives.
Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
CHCP Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer Eric Bing will continue to lead the organization, HCA said.
The deal builds on a decades-long partnership between CHCP and HCA, the company said.
"Our goal is for our shared commitment to adult learner success, academic excellence and workforce readiness to help increase opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals and make a positive impact in communities across the country," Bing said.
In addition to CHCP, HCA has a majority stake in the Galen College of Nursing, and operates the Research College of Nursing in Kansas City, Mo., and HCA Florida Mercy College of Nursing in Miami. It also helped to launch Pepperdine University's School of Nursing.
