Fincantieri Group, through e-phors, a subsidiary of Fincantieri NexTech, announces the signing of a new contract with the Italian Navy for the enhancement of the cyber resilience of naval units. The contract provides for the adoption of a specific program aimed at equipping the platforms with an integrated solution for monitoring and countering cyber threats on the onboard SMS (Ship Management System) network, strengthening the protection of platforms and the security of missions.
The technology developed by e-phors is specifically designed for the digital ecosystem of defense vessels and enables crews to have advanced tools to support tactical decision-making in the event of a cyber crisis. The integration of these systems represents an additional line of defense, which is fundamental in an increasingly pervasive hybrid warfare context, and is part of the cyber strengthening process already initiated by the Italian Navy with the Bergamini-class frigates.
For Fincantieri, which through this contract confirms its role as a strategic partner of the Italian Navy in the fleet's digitalization process, cybersecurity represents a fundamental strategic lever, at the heart of a path of growth and innovation that sees the Group committed to adopting the most advanced technologies for the protection of critical infrastructures and naval platforms. Through e-phors, Fincantieri deploys a wealth of specialized expertise and next-generation solutions, consolidating its leadership in the field of cybersecurity applied to the naval domain.
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri, stated: "The contracts we are announcing today consolidate Fincantieri's role as a strategic partner of the Italian Navy in the field of cyber security and confirm the Group's leadership in the cyber protection of naval platforms. Our ongoing commitment to innovation and digital security allows us to provide advanced, cutting-edge solutions on the international scene, ensuring the highest standards of protection and reliability for Navy units in response to the challenges of today and tomorrow."
