The European Commission has given the green light for the acquisition of IPG by Omnicom. No special conditions have been imposed.
Almost a year after the announcement of the intention to acquire, the international marketing groups have received permission from Europe to merge. This will not result in any unfair or disruptive market conditions.
Europe investigated whether the companies’ creative divisions and media buying activities would create unfair market dynamics. That is not the case. There remains sufficient, strong competition.
“Should the merged entity increase its prices or lower the quality of its services, clients would have the option to switch to one of the many competing agencies that will remain active in the market after the transaction.”
Omnicom and IPG submitted their request for approval in Brussels on 20 October 2025. The process required little time.
