Deutsche Börse is entering the cryptocurrency trading space with a multi-million dollar investment in Kraken. The Frankfurt-based exchange operator is acquiring a 1.5 percent stake in Kraken's parent company, Payward, for 200 million dollars, the company announced on Tuesday. This move deepens a strategic partnership first disclosed in December 2025. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter, subject to regulatory approvals.
The two companies aim to bridge the gap between traditional financial markets and the digital asset ecosystem. The partnership is set to cover trading, custody, settlement, and tokenized assets.
