Communications-services companies rose amid deal intrigue.

Shares of Warner Bros. Discovery fell after reports the Hollywood studio would recommend shareholders reject a buyout bid from rival Paramount Skydance, intended as a spoiler to Warner's merger deal with Netflix.

British sports streaming giant DAZN is in advanced talks to acquire a majority stake in Main Street Sports Group, the big regional sports broadcaster in the U.S.

President Trump sued the BBC for $10 billion, in a defamation lawsuit over the broadcaster's editing of a documentary that featured his speech before the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Versant Media Group, the cable networks spinoff from Comcast, added to Monday's gains.
