The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Monday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie was trading 0.1% higher at C$1.3962 to the greenback, or 71.62 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3956 to 1.3991.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 3.5 basis points to 3.187%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.0691%.
U.S. January crude futures rose 38 cents to $58.93 a barrel on Monday.
