Airbus Helicopters to sell up to 18 Flexrotor drones to Garuda
The aircraft manufacturer is expanding the commercial footprint of its light tactical drone through an agreement with Garuda Technologies, targeting the North American market and critical civil missions.
Airbus Helicopters has announced the signing of a contract with Garuda Technologies for the delivery of up to 18 Flexrotor Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS).
The company will offer these aircraft to its customers through wet or dry lease arrangements for civil and parapublic missions, such as infrastructure inspection (roads, pipelines, power lines), security operations, fire monitoring, or disaster relief.
The Flexrotor, a 25 kg light tactical drone designed for ISTAR missions (intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance), can fly for more than 12 to 14 hours and carry various sensors, including electro-optical systems. The aircraft can take off and land autonomously on land or at sea from an area of only 3.7 × 3.7 meters, and can be deployed in less than 30 minutes.
Airbus also noted that it is seeing growing demand for this system for both civil and military use.
Airbus shares ended the session in Paris with a gain of 1.41%.
