Prior to joining Ledgemont, Mr. Gupta created and was Managing Director of the Global Strategic Risk Group (GSRG), a proprietary trading group at Merrill Lynch.
The group was a cross-asset class, multi-strategy, multi-geography trading group focusing only on liquid markets.
GSRG managed more than $20 billion in balance sheet assets at its peak, generating over $1 billion in returns after funding costs over its three and one half year period.
Mr. Gupta managed 200 professionals in the business with personnel in the US, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Canada and Brazil.
He assisted Merrill Lynch with strategic investments in PHLX, Quadriserv/AQS, Bovespa, CTC and pre-IPO opportunities in India.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Gupta held various positions at Morgan Stanley from 1996 to 2004.
At Morgan Stanley, he was a founding member of Equity Trading Labs (ETL); ETL was responsible for creating a number of electronic trading initiatives within Institutional Equities, including algorithmic trading, electronic small cap market making, program trading and statistical-arbitrage trading vertical.
My Gupta holds a MS, ABD, Computer Sciences from Cornell University in May 1995 and a B.
Tech, Computer Sciences and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in April 1992.
